TTR Oakley Shaun White Air & Style Beijing 2011 – Wrap Up

Ulrik Badertscher (NOR) won the Oakley Shaun White Air & Style Beijing competition in the Olympic Bird's Nest stadium tonight, followed by 2 Norwegian wingmen Torstein Horgmo and Stale Sandbech. Ulrik received the coveted Air & Style Ring of Glory and 1,000 TTR World Ranking points.Ulrik's winning run was a very clean backside rodeo 1260, which was also awarded Red Bull's Best Trick. Torstein Horgmo commented: 'Norway did OK today. There is no secret to it, we just all got juiced and we just follow some bad ass dudes, we just try to keep up.'Favorites Sebastien Toutant (CAN) and Seppe Smits (BEL) both failed to reach the podium like last year. Seppe had the best results in the first round, but didn't manage to land his three attempts in the second round. Seb's cab 1260 double cork wasn't good enough to beat Ulrik's smooth double backside rodeo 12 Indy Grab, which gave him the highest score of the second round.

Check The Course with Maxence Parrot – Backside 1440 Triple Cork at O’Neill Evolution 2013

As the lights were about to go out at the end of Wednesday’s training session here at the O’Neill Evolution, Maxence Parrot (CAN) decided there was no time like the present to try his first Triple Cork. His first attempt was close, landing on his feet but slipping out and taking a nasty bum check in the process. Anticipation in the press tent was high as he dropped in for his second attempt, and this time he stomped it in a Torstein-Horgmo-Winter X-Games-perfect-score type of way, making it the first contest kicker Triple Cork in European history. Never one to be outdone, Sebastien Toutant (CAN), the last rider to drop in during tonight’s training session, went within a whisker of stomping his own variation of the Triple. The consensus on the ground here tonight is that we may well end up seeing a triple knock out another triple in the new 6 Star Big Air head-to-head format – suffice to say the level of progression is going through the roof. As ever, the O’Neill Evolution brings together the best in progressive freestyle snowboarding, and this year’s edition is shaping up to be one of the best ever.
