Peetu Piiroinen Is Three Time TTR World Snowboard Champion

http://www.ttrworldtour.com – Last season, Peetu Piiroinen was the first ever snowboarder to win two TTR World Tour titles and has returned again this season to take an unprecedented third consecutive TTR title, a feat no other snowboarder has come close to touching. At the age of 23, Peetu has had an amazing run in competitive snowboarding with over 25 career podiums. Peetu started competing back in 1997 at the ripe age of 9-years old and has been steadily progressing his riding since. From there, he has expanded his skills into the halfpipe, quarterpipe and big air jumps winning competitions around the world. From Asia, he moved on to Europe where he took fourth place at the 6Star O’Neill Evolution halfpipe in Davos, Switzerland. Peetu found himself back on the podium when he took down the 6Star Burton European Open halfpipe title and placed second in slopestyle. And, at the 6Star Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck, Austria, Peetu took another second place. Iouri Podladtchikov, Peetu Piiroinen and Kazuhiro Kokubo talk to the Stwatch TTR World Snowboarding Tour about the 6Star Burton European Open Finals in Laax, Switzerland. Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), took third place at BEO with big spins in the pipe to move into the TTR World No. 1 spot. But, it was Finnish halfpipe machine, Peetu Piiroinen, who took down the win for the second year in a row, which improved his position in the World Rankings to World No. 3. Peetu blew the crowd away with his last run made up of a frontside 720, Cab double cork 1080, frontside air, backside 900 and a backside alley-oop rodeo. Peetu was very happy with his win saying, "This win means a lot to me, I would not have thought that I would be able to defend my victory from last year. It was a really great weekend, second place in slopestyle and first in pipe and I have some other good results on tour which means I could fight for the TTR title again." Style master, Kazuhiro Kokubo (JPN), took second place with an excellent display of how riders can excel with a run focusing on style in the halfpipe.
