Livigno, Italy – January 23rd 2008: The last day of the Swatch TTR THREE(3)STAR Protest World Rookie Fest 08 in Livigno, the first of three World Snowboard Federation (WSF) World Rookie Fests this season, saw an amazing level of riding from every rider in the finals. During the two-hour jam session the top young rippers stomped their best tricks at a level that rivals their snowboarding heroes, including double corks, Cab 10s, Cab 9s and tons more. Norway returned for the third year as the best team of the event, but the champions of the competition came from all over; Kevin Bronckaers from Belgium and Sarka Pancochova from Czech Republic won the rookie category, while Dimi De Jong from Holland and Alicia Bonnaud were the best of the groms.The set up of the slope style was incredible as the final day of the event awoke to perfect conditions and bluebird skies. As everyone expected, the level of riding in the finals was extremely high even with such a laid-back jam session format that allowed riders to push their riding without too much stress. The Norwegians won the team title for the third year but many other nations were represented on the podium included Italy, with a third place from Youri Macciotta in the grom category. Among the female groms, the France team swept the podium.Drew Stevenson, CEO of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour, was in Livigno for the finals and prize giving and he expressed his surprise and his excitement for the level of riding thrown down by the youngsters. In the last three days, Protest World Rookie Fest showcased snowboardings future stars, giving the best rider of the event a ticket to other main TTR events including the Swatch TTR FIVE(5)STAR Waengle Taengle Aesthetiker Jam in Mayrhofen, Austria, the Roxy Pinky Jam in Italy, and 10 tickets to the upcoming THREE(3)STAR O2 World Rookie Fest in Neklied, Czech Republic. As well, the winner of the THREE(3)STAR Voelkl World Rookie Fest in Ischgl, Austria will get a Ticket To Ride in the Rookie Challenge of the Swatch TTR SIX(6)STAR Nokia Air & Style 2008 in Munich.
