St. Gallenkirch / Silvretta-Montafon / Austria, 24. March 2012 – Roman Hausamann (SUI) and Stefke Vanderweyer (BEL) safed with their win at the last Chill and Destroy (CaD) qualifier-event at NovaPark SHRED CHAMPS their victory of the ALLOVER-ranking 2012 in category Men and Kids.
With heavenly sunny weather conditions and springlike temperatures totally 77 contest-riders came to the perfectly shaped NovaPark in Silvretta- Montafon. In Snb-Girls category won Maria Teifel (GER) and is now qualified for the big final of the CaD tour “O’NEILL FINAL STRIKE” on 7th April 2012 at the Almdudler Fellhornpark in Oberstdorf.
Montafon is actually one of the top-spots for pro-riders. Soon there will be done the probably most breathtaking photo- and videosession of snowboard-history at Hochjoch… the Chosen-Project by Nike. Even the enormously costs and dimensions for the constructions of the mega-obstacles and of the huge snow setup make it impossible for “normal” riders to get in to the session, especially because of the reason that this session will take place in private in beginning of April, no publicity allowed. Exclusive pictures and videos from the Chosen-session will be published even some time after the event, so the snowboard-scene can be very excited and can look forward to it.
The shapers of the NovaPark in beautiful Silvretta-Montafon probably wanted to show their neighbour from Hochjoch that their perfectly shaped funpark also rocks and EVERBODY is invited to join the CaD SHRED CHAMPS contest. The riders took the invitation and came from all directions to one of the most beautiful and best snowparks in the alps to have a great competition with other shredders and to easily enjoy a chilled day on the mountain.
That was the setup: The park began with a shooting-tube, followed by two double kicker lines. After the kickers the riders could choose different jib-lines. Next to the stair-set, downrail or box and kinked rail the riders could shred the rainbowbox, straight-t-profile, up-gap-downbox, a-frame-box and finally at the end of the park the big quarter or wallride.
At the last qualifier tourstop there was also in girls-category a preliminary descision for the allover- ranking. For actual leader Pia Gärtner (GER) and also Simone Häring (SUI) and Annette Hammerschmidt (GER) was everything open… Pia Gärtner took 4th place with straight nosegrab, straight stalefish and some bs noseslides on the jibline and keeps thus the leadership of the girls-allover-ranking. Annette Hammerschmidt from Innsbruck showed similar runs with only one trick higher and more difficult, so she got 3rd place and divides now the 2nd place in girls-allover-ranking with Simone Häring from Arosa (SUI). Simone Häring ended on 6th position that day and collected important points for her ranking.
With cab 180, straight nosegrab, 50/50 on the downrail and a sweet 50/50-fs-to-bs boardslide on the rainbow Charlotte Freyburger (SWE) got 2nd place. First place went to an old friend of the CaD Tour:
Maria Teifel (GER) joined the competition very impressive. With bs 180 method, straight indy tailbone, 50/50 on the downrail, bs noseslide-to-pretzel-out on the rainbow and a stylish 360-rock on the wallride the lovely girl from Reit im Winkl did not let a chance to any of her competitors. She won the girls- competition and got qualified for the O’Neill FINAL STRIKE in Oberstdorf.
The snb-kids rocked and were loudly supported by all riders and the audience. Specially the little belgium guys Jordy Keesmeekers and Stefke Vanderweyer advanced to be everybody’s darling. Jordy showed e.g. fs 540, a very stylish bs shifty and certain “highspeed”-jibs like 50/50 on the downrail and bs nose on the rainbow. 2nd place for him. Niklas Nischke (GER) from Munich made bs 540 and cab 1, unfortunately not clean (one hand in the snow), so he got 3rd place. Winner of kids-category was Stefke Vanderweyer who will be for the third time CaD allover-over winner in kids-category. He showed nice back-to-back FS 360 tailgabs and an absolutely stylish FS late 360 and some nice jibs. 4th place went to Lorenz Zweier (AUT), followed by Swiss Tim Schneider on 5th and Austrian Rico Prehl on 6th position.
In SNB men category Patrick Morscher (winner of the previous year tour stop) could not repeat his performance from last season. He showed beautiful fs 720 and sw bs 540 indy, but this time it was not enough, 6th place for him closely behind Daniel Kubli (SUI, e.g. bs 720) on 5th position. Patrick Habegger (SUI) missed closely the podium and ended on 4th place with a stylish cab 540 indy to bs 720 combo. The second place divided with same score (115 points) Dominik Metzler (AUT) and Urs Hediger (SUI). Dominik showed sw 50/50-cab 1 on the shooting-tube, fs 360 indy nosebone and bs 720 on the kicker and a stylish tailpress on the downrail. Urs entertained the audience with beautiful bs 720 and bs 900 (unfortunately with on hand in the snow). Roman Hausamann wanted to safe his victory of the CaD tourranking and rocked. Last season he unfortunately missed the victory because of an injury, but this season no one else stood a chance, because no other rider showed such a constantly good performance as Roman. Last Saturday he showed again a super clean and safe run. Roman deserved the 1st place and we are already looking forward to his performance at the CaD final in Oberstdorf, where he can shred very relaxed, because his leadership of the allover-ranking is safe!
Also Dominik Metzler and Daniel Kubli are now qualified for the O’Neill FINAL STRIKE and Patrick Morscher gets the “Montafon”-wildcard for the CaD final.
In the evening the crowd partied hard at the after contest party „Let’s go get NEON – 80ties…“ in the Mühle in Gaschurn.
The last qualifier tourstop of the CaD tour – the “NovaPark SHRED CHAMPS” – was a very chilled happening and made a lot of fun. We are looking forward to a continuation next year.
