The competition season in the Northern Hemisphere is gathering momentum and European riders will be converging on the Dachstein glacier in Schladming, Austria this weekend for the 4Star Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam. This will be the 8th year running for the Pleasure Jam, which has become many riders favorite early season event. Both men and women are gearing up to compete in slopestyle and will be going after the healthy $20,000 USD prize purse. The action will kick off on Friday, November 12th, 2010 and will wrap up with finals on Saturday, November 13th.Kicking of the European Season at DachsteinThis year, a field of over 160 international riders from over 20 countries will compete at the Horsefeathers Superpark at Dachstein. A high-level of riding is expected with the current Swatch TTR Tour leader, Gjermund Braaten (NOR), in attendance looking to defend his pole position. Current World No. 7 and two-time World Rookie Fest winner, Roope Tonteri (FIN), will be showing off his solid slopestyle riding skills along with fellow rising stars, Kevin BackstrEm (SWE) and Seppe Smits (BEL), who are sitting in World No. 9 and World No. 6, respectively. Swiss riders, Markus Keller and Stephan Maurer, will also be present and will be trying to improve their Top 50 positions after climbing the rankings last weekend with good results at the 4Star Nissan Stomp-It in Modena, Italy. Local Austrian rider and a familiar face at the Pleasure Jam, Werner Stock, is excited to get back in competition mode saying, “For me the Pleasure Jam is a fixed season opener. The park is always sick and the event is simply perfect.” New Female TTR Tour Leader on the HorizonThe womens TTR Tour ranking is likely to see some shuffling with reigning TTR Tour Champion and current World No. 2, Enni RukajErvi (FIN), in the line up along with German slopestyle specialist, Silvia Mittermueller, who sits just a few points away in World No. 3. These ladies will need to be on the lookout for some eager rookies including, Katarzyna Rusin (POL), who made her way to the invite list by winning a video competition and is sitting in World No. 44. Current tour leader, Sina Candrian (SUI), is absent from the rider list and will most likely fall further down in the TTR Top 10. The women will be warming up for an action-packed season, which will conclude at the 6Star Burton US Open, where both the male and female TTR World Tour Champions will be crowned.Next on the Swatch TTR TourThe first 6Star event of the season for the men, the Air & Style Beijing presented by Oakley and Shaun White, is only weeks away and is certain to start the 6Star event lineup off with a bang. The next major event for both men and women will be the 6Star ONeill Evolution event in the beginning of January, which will feature slopestyle and halfpipe. There are also a couple of 3Star events coming up at the end of November in Norway including the Swag Slopestyle at Vierli and the Sweet Rumble in Trysil.
