Kelly Clark Qualifies In First For Halfpipe Finals At Roxy Chicken Jam


Roxy Chicken Jam is the final 6Star event of the 2009/2010 TTR World Tour snowboarding season for women. The 2009/2010 Swatch TTR Tour Champion will be crowned this weekend at the Roxy Chicken Jam following results from the contest at Mammoth Mountain. The winner is decided from a series of global events based on results at participating events around the world. The total points are earned in both slopestyle and superpipe events. Top 3 finishers on the tour earn automatic invites to all major TTR events next season. At the Roxy Chicken Jam, Roxy and the TTR will pay out $90,000 in prizes broken down to 1st – $50,000; 2nd – $25,000; 3rd – $15,000 for the largest prize purse for women on the TTR. Current rankings as of 3/26/10 puts Finnish Roxy team rider, Enni RukajErvi in 1st separated by less than one point from 2nd place snowboarder Sina Candrian. Today, in the slopestyle qualifiers, Roxy team rider and the youngest competitor Ty Walker placed 1st to guarantee a spot in the slopestyle semifinals occurring tomorrow, March 27th. The top 6 riders from the qualifiers earn spots to compete in the semifinals. The slopestyle finals will also run tomorrow, March 27th. In the superpipe semifinals, Kelly Clark, the 2010 bronze medalist in the Olympics placed 1st with a huge frontside 720 to cab 720 to start strong for the superpipe finals tomorrow March 27th. Tyler Flanagan threw a corked backside 1080 with a mute grab to win $1000 in cold hard cash, a Lib Tech board and DC boots in the 2nd annual Quiksilver Cluck Off mens invitational.While the Roxy Chicken Jam is a key and final event on the TTR Tour, it is also a winterland festival featuring a free concert with The Bravery and N.A.S.A. and a sponsor tent village where spectators can enjoy free demos and sponsor freebies. Saturday, March 27th, Roxy Chicken Jam will host the finals for both slopestyle and superpipe as well as the 3rd annual Mascot Contest where the infamous Roxy Chicken will once again be challenging all furry, feathered and ferocious mascots for a superpipe showdown.
