Mens Halfpipe Pre-Qualification and Qualification were held today, but my eyes were on the slopestyle course as both big dogs and little ones got a chance to check out the 2008 course. The lay of the land included 2 jibs at the top that rolled into 4 jumps measuring 45 feet, 60 feet, 60 feet and 70 feet respectively. There are also smaller take off options for the pea hearted and mini shreds. All the riders seemed pumped on the setup: The course is running smooth…good flow” stated current TTR World No. 7 Chas Guldemond as he snaked the 50 strong drop in zone. The quiet Finnish workhorses were riding strong all day with Janne Korpi, Risto Mattila, Antti Autti, Markus Malin and Peetu Piiroinen all clocking up as much time on course as possible. The big doggy yanks on the other hand were not to be seen. Missing from todays practice were Kevin Pearce, Shaun White, Andy Finch, Scotty Lago, Mason Aguirre and the Mitrani brothers. With Slope Pre-Qualifiers and Qualifiers tomorrow, were sure well see some top notch practicing from the big boys in the 22ft pipe. Im sure as the week progresses, so will the action.
