Current WSPL leaders for March 2017

29/03/2017

The last Elite and International events of the 2016/17 season are in the books and the WSPL ranking battle is coming to an end. Last week we saw the Elite Spring Battle, Grandvalira Total Fight and the non-WST accredited FIS World Cup Spindleruv Mlyn go down. At the same time the International PSA Asia Grand Championships attracted some of the best Japanese talents.

With likely no further change happening at the top, we’re stoked to present to you the current WSPL leaders:

SS – MARK MCMORRIS & ANNA GASSER DOMINATE ALL SEASON
Anna Gasser (AUT) came out swinging this season and scored a spot on the podium at most of the events she participated in. As a result she is the current WSPL Women’s Slopestyle Leader! 2nd place goes to Julia Marino (USA) and 3rd place to Jamie Anderson (USA).

Mark McMorris (CAN) unfortunately sustained a gnarly injury during a recent backcountry trip. (more details: http://ow.ly/OzaD30akwDO) We wish him a speedy recovery! Mark has killed it all season with podiums at Laax Open and Burton US Open. He takes home the 1st place on the Slopestyle WSPL followed by Sven Thorgren (SWE) and Marcus Kleveland (NOR).

HP – CHLOE KIM & SCOTTY JAMES GO BIG
With titles at the U.S Grand Prix Copper, Laax Open and Burton US Open, nobody was able to take the Halfpipe WSPL lead away from 16-year old Chloe Kim (USA). Kelly Clark (USA) finishes in 2nd place after an impressive season with 2 titles.

5 podiums in one season at the world’s best snowboard events will get you to the top. Scotty James (AUS) was the man to beat this season and he was determined. He finishes in 1st place on the Halfpipe WSPL with Shaun White (USA) in 2nd place and Chase Josey (USA) in 3rd.

BA – MAX PARROT & ANNA GASSER IN THE LEAD
4 wins and 7 podiums, Max Parrot (CAN) really couldn’t be beaten this season. Max rode consistently to the top and stays in 1st place on the Big Air WSPL. 2nd place goes to Mark McMorris (CAN) and 3rd place to Marcus Kleveland (NOR).

Anna Gasser (AUT) not only topped Max’s podium statistics, she’s currently a 2-time WSPL leader! With 5 wins and 8 Big Air podiums, she can be more than stoked on her season and the 1st place on the Big Air WSPL. Congrats also to Hailey Langland (USA) in 2nd and Enni Rukajarvi (FIN) in 3rd.

MOVER-AND-SHAKER
19-year old Fridtjof Tischendorf placed 2nd at the FIS World Cup in Czech and jumped 54 spots into 46th place on the Slopestyle WSPL with the latest update.
