Billabong Flaunt It Mount Seymour: Another Powder Day

With 67 cm of fresh powder on Saturday morning the fourth Flaunt It stop of the series made its way to Mount Seymour, BC.  There were a number of determined ladies who gave up a powder day for the chance to win the trip to finals at Sierra-at-Tahoe that was up for grabs.  It was a typical foggy day for the mountains of Vancouver, and the day proceeded with a morning Rail Jam in the hopes that the weather would break to allow for some on course visibility for an afternoon Slopestyle.  After lunch the ladies were greeted with borderline visibility for the first jump so the Slopestyle was replaced with a Big Air contest.

Tara Hickey stomped the trick of the day with a frontside 540 Rodeo, making her family in the audience very proud.  Hickey will be moving on to the Finals, winning a trip to Tahoe, $700 and tons of prizes from Flaunt It sponsors.  Chloe Woodruff took second place with a Backflip backside 180, and Maria Thomsen took home third with a clean backside 540.  Chloe’s sister Ruby Woodruff was not far behind coming in fourth place and Kea Mowat in fifth.  Mowat also owned the Nixon Style award with her perfect backside 180 Melons.

The Rail Jam allowed the competitors to showcase theirskills on a down box and a street style down rail.  Maria Thomsen from Denmark took first place with a steezy front board 270-out and locked down the Dakine Best Trick award as the standout rider of the day.  Quebec’s Cynthia Brassard displayed her technical rail tricks in second place with afrontside 180 switch 5-0 to half cab on the down rail.  Alaura Ewen placed third in the Rail Jam, before knocking herself unconscious on the jump, claiming the VZ Rag Doll Award.
