The World Rookie Tour is coming back to the Southern Hemisphere for the Australian Rookie Fest 2012, a 3Star World Snowboard Tour slopestyle event, being held at Thredbo on 16th and 17th August. This is the third time that the Black Yeti has come to Australia and we are looking forward to some world class junior slopestyle shredding this year. The event is for rookies (born 1995, 96 and 97) and groms (born 1998 and later), male and female.
Prizes include qualification and entries to the World Rookie Fest finals in Ischgl Austria in April 2013, entries to Stylewars and The Mile High events, Red Bull stunt plane flights, “Gold Passes” to Monster Skate Park and filming with the World Snowboard Federation on the days following the event. All competitors will gain valuable points on the World Snowboard Tour and World Rookie rankings.
The World Snowboard Federation will be at the event as part of their “Down Under Tour” which includes a week at Thredbo and a week in Sydney after the event for skateboarding, surfing and cultural visits. Meinhard Trojer, member of the Board of the World Snowboard Federation, will bring a team of European selected riders including the World Rookie Champion 2012 Sven Thorgren (Sweden), Fridjof Saether Tischendorf and Ole Christian Hagen (Norway), Rowan Coultas and Lewis Courtier-Jones (UK).
