4Star Absolut Park Spring Battle Ups The Stakes In 2009


The Swatch TTR World Tour rolls to Austria this weekend for the 4Star Absolut Park Spring Battle, taking place in Flachauwinkl from April 3rd – 5th, 2009. Top international riders of the Swatch TTR season will be attendance, all looking to step up and end the season with a bang. They will have a host of national shred stars joining them in the quest for 500 TTR ranking points and $25 000 USD.In 2009 the Absolut Park has been upgraded to Swatch TTR 4Star level – guaranteeing this springtime extravaganza will be even more banging than last year. Seppi Harml, Christoph Walchhofer and the Absolut Park crew have shaped a course that includes a giant wall as well as a mega kicker with a 20m table. They are also remaining tight lipped about some surprise obstacles which are sure to provide the riders with chances for progressive riding.World No.25 Colin Frei (SUI) is making the journey from Switzerland for the contest. Last time he was in Austria he took out the 6Star Billabong Air & Style so watch out for him as he looks to maintain his good fortune in Austria. World No.40, Seppe Smits (BEL) has been one of the standout rookies on the Swatch TTR Tour this season. He knocked off several big names throughout the season and has the confidence and skills to step it up in the Absolut Park Spring Battle. Finnish rider Ville Uotila (FIN) recently took out the 4Star Total Fight Masters of Freestyle and is hungry for back to back Swatch TTR 4Star wins to finish up his season. He will be joined by last years winner Lars Oesterle (GER), who is back again to defend his title. Also chasing the cash and points are the Swedes – Kevin Backstrom and Stefan Karlsson. There is a solid international crew of riders in the mix but the Austrians will all be vying for glory in front of the home crowd.The local posse always has an advantage on their home turf and there will be no shortage of Austrian talent who could claim first place. Rudi and Chris Kroell have performed well all season and are obvious contenders to finish strongly.
