3(Three) Star TTR Event The 2006 New Zealand Billabong Pro Junior

The 2006 Billabong Pro Junior will be held from 25th – 27th August at Snowpark, Wanaka, New Zealand. It will mark the second Southern Hemisphere event on the 2006/2007 TTR World Snowboard Tour. Billabong, who had planned two TTR rated Pro Juniors in the Southern hemisphere this season, struck poor snow conditions in Australia, forcing their first event, a 2(two) Star TTR Slopestyle at Mt Hotham, Victoria Australia, to be transformed to a rail jam sessions and sadly having to pull the events results from the TTR rankings. However epic conditions in New Zealand have secured Billabongs second planned event the 3(three) Star event Billabong Slopestyle jam due to kick off at the world class Snow Park in Wanaka this weekend.Experiencing one of their best seasons the South Island has seen both a mass flocking of top tiered riders from all over he world most of which have come to ride the top level terrain park, Snow Park in Wanaka, home of the second TTR World Snowboard Tour event this weekend.Divisions in this year’s Slopestyle formatted event will be an open men’s, open women’s, and junior men’s of which the two top male and female juniors will qualify into the Billabong World Junior Pro (BWJP) in Europe. The BWJP will be held from 8 – 9 March 2007 in Les Deux Alpes, France as a TTR 4(four) Star Event. More information on the BWJP can be found at local New Zealand riders having dominated the International field in 2005 (they won all divisions, bar one), it will take top level performances from traveling pros to topple their National pride to secure podium places again. Vice 0506 TTR World Tour Champion Risto Mattila and his Finnish team partner Antti Autti (third on the 0506 TTR World Tour) are confirmed starters and will surely be two of the top seeded riders gunning for podium and a possible 700 TTR Championships points for a win. However with rumors of current seasons TTR World Tour leader, the young American Danny Davis being in town, the competition will be explosive. Davis, seen as one of this seasons biggest threats to take the TTR World Tour Championship title laid claim to the Nr#1 spot on World Tour rankings through a well accumulated array of top finishes, giving Davis an enviable early season lead ahead of fellow Americans Steve Fisher and Louie Vito and fourth placed Mikkel Bang of Norway. The winner of the junior men’s division of the 2006 Billabong Slopestyle Jam for will receive an exclusive invitation to compete in the 2007 Billabong World Junior Pro.Event registration will be on Thursday 24th August at Snow Park, Wanaka New ZealandFor More Information: Simon Barratt +61 437 733 346 sbarratt (at) – Mens – TTR World Snowboard Tour Ranking as of: 23/08/06Name Nationality Sponsor TTR WorldRankingDavis, Danny USA Burton, Anon 1st Fisher, Steve USA Head 2nd Vito, Louie USA Volcom 3rd 2006/2007 – Womens – TTR World Snowboard Tour Ranking as of: 23/08/06Name Nationality Sponsor TTR World RankingHolligsworth, Ellery USA Burton, Oakley 1st Beaman, Hanna USA Amped, Vans 2nd Hight, Elena USA Burton, Volcom 3rd Join the tour at on
